Guidelines for Article Preparation for Submission
Editorials
Editorials are short personal perspectives, usually written by authors closely associated with F1000Research. Editorials can only be submitted by invitation and ultimate responsibility for the Editorial lies with F1000Research’s Publishing Director.
Editorials cover topics relevant to F1000Research’s aims and its Gateways. They fall into two categories:
- Advisors overseeing a gateway or collection on F1000Research may announce the launch of their gateway/collection in an Editorial, explaining its aims and scope and specific processes, or communicate policies or other developments that are directly relevant to the group of researchers they represent. Advisors can publish no more than two Editorials per year.
- Senior Editorial staff (or the publisher) or Editorial advisors may publish short Editorials about issues that are considered important to F1000Research’s readership, for example, on data sharing or open peer review. Editorial advisors can publish no more than one Editorial per year.
Editorials are not formally peer reviewed and must not include new research and data. They are evaluated by the editorial team in house, and if necessary, in consultation with advisory board members.
